Our trip to Mexico is now less than a week away and I feel as if all the pieces are falling together at just the right time. I’m so excited about what we plan on doing and the lives we will touch in Tijuana, but I’m looking forward to what God plans on doing even more. I truly believe that God works through small groups to accomplish incredible feats. I’ve always wanted to be part of something special like this. With the wisdom and experience of John Muskopf and Doug Henshaw, I feel confident that our group will adapt well to whichever stage of the construction we encounter.
Throughout this year, I’ve grown close to the members of our group and I look forward to growing even closer. I know a trip like this creates a bond unlike any other. Our group consists of five current Muskingum students (one from France, one from Spain, one Cincinnati, and one from my dreams) and one Muskingum alum (one of my very best friends). Although our group is small in numbers, I know that we are strong and that we will make a difference in Mexico.
I hope to enjoy the weather in TIjuana, the atmosphere, the disconnect from the US, the taco stand (Jill swears by it), the language, the children, the hard work, the teamwork, the early mornings, the relaxing afternoons, the orphanage, the coffee, the food, the laughs, and most importantly, the opportunity to be selfless and give a week of my life to someone else.
However, some of the downsides to the trip might include lower back pain (potentially caused by daily labor and/or sleeping accommodations), a boring or tedious stage of the construction, complaints, the food or lack thereof, and our quick return to the states.
Overall, I’m ready for one of the most memorable trips of my life. Thanks to the few trips I’ve taken overseas, I know that one of the best things to bring with me is an open mind. I pray that our group arrives to this foreign country with open minds and loving hearts. God will take it from there.

Your group will be in our prayers all week. We will follow you the next, so set the direction and mark the path. Steve
